Princeton Top Dukes, 4-1, at Penn Soccer Classic

Philadelphia, Pa. - Duquesne University's men's soccer team suffered a 4-1 loss to the Princeton Tigers of the Ivy League in the first round of the Penn Soccer Classic at the Quakers' Rhodes Field in Philadelphia.

Freshman Mike McCutcheon, from nearby West Chester, Pa., scored his first collegiate goal for Duquesne's lone marker.

Trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Dukes (3-2-1) tied the score in the 67th minute when McCutcheon, fresh into the game, took sophomore Evan Browne's crossing pass and hit a right-footer past the Tigers' Justin Oppenheimer.

Princeton (3-1-1) regained the momemtum, scoring three goals by the 74th minute of play for an insurmontable 4-1 edge.

In the other opening day contest, host Penn shutout the Atlantic 10's Saint Joseph's, 4-0.

The Quakers host the Dukes Sunday, September 17, 2006, at 3:30 p.m. Princeton and the Hawks will face off in Sunday's first game at 12 noon.
