Decker Named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week

Duquesne junior defensive end Travis Decker (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Football League Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in DU's season-ending 38-0 win at La Salle on Saturday.

Decker, who finished the game with a team-high eight tackles including 2.0 sacks for minus 10 yards, also forced a fumble and recovered a fumble in the Dukes' shutout win.

Decker, who didn't join the starting lineup until the fourth game of the season, led the 7-3 Dukes with 8.0 sacks. His 12 tackles for loss were also a team-high.

Duquesne (3-1 in the MAAC) clinched a share of the 2006 MAAC championship with the win at La Salle. Duquesne has either won or shared 10 of the past 12 league championships, including the past eight in a row.
