Dukes at Penn State National Track & Field Meet

University Park, Pa. - Duquesne University's women's indoor track and field team competed in two of the seven events on the first day of the Penn State National Meet Friday evening at the Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track.

Duquesne's distance medley relay team of seniors Tara Gerlach and Brianne Scott and freshmen Emily Beahan and Kathy Parker finished sixth with a time of 12:11.56 in the Dukes' second outing of the season. In their initial action earlier this month (at the Penn State Relays), DU's mark was 12:36.54.

Alana McClanahan had a toss of 14.88 meters (48 feet, 10 inches) in the weight throw. This throw, her best of the season by almost two feet (46' 10.75"), was good for 22nd among 36 athletes.

The second day of the Penn State National is set to begin Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006 at 9:15 a.m.
