Pittsburgh, Pa. - Duquesne University's women's tennis team opened the 2006 spring schedule with a 7-0 win over Akron Thursday at the Oxford Athletic Club in Monroeville, Pa. The Dukes swept the doubles point and won all six singles matches in straight sets.

Gaining wins in both singles and doubles were juniors Jacqueline Hughes (McKeesport, Pa. / McKeesport) and Alicia McNamara (Voorhees, N.J. / Pendleton School), sophomores Johanna Bezjak (Salisbury, Md. / James M. Bennett) and Andrea Sailer (Tucson, Ariz. / Salpointe Catholic), and freshmen Alexandria Albano (East Amherst, N.Y. / Williamsville East) and Rebecca Poole (Swindon, Wiltshire, UK / New College).

The Dukes host Dayton next Friday, February 3, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. in their next action.
