Richmond, Va. - Senior Kristen Micsky (left) was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship's Most Outstanding Field Performer and freshman Amy Ruffolo was tabbed the Championship's Most Outstanding Rookie Performer as they led the Dukes to a best-ever second place finish in the two-day event at UR's Sports Backer Stadium.
Head Coach Bryan Delsite was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Track & Field Coach of the Year.
Note: Delsite also was named Men's Coach of the Year Sunday.
Micsky, who took three gold medals, won a pair on Sunday as she posted a winning time of 1:04.01 in the 400 meter hurdles as well as the top mark in the triple jump (38 feet, 11 ¾ inches). She won the long jump Saturday with a leap of 18 feet, 7 inches and was second in the high jump.
On Saturday, freshman Amy Ruffolo broke previous A-10 and Duquesne records in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and senior Sarah Fetterman tied her own pole vault school record as both took firsts to give the Dukes a total of five golds.
Rhode Island broke a first-day tie for first with Duquesne to motor to their fourth straight title with a total of 150 points, 15 ahead of the runnerup Dukes. La Salle took third, 19 points back at 116.
