Results

Princeton, N.J. - Senior Ryan Bender and freshman Tom Slosky set new Duquesne records Friday as the Dukes sit in a tie for 12th place after the first day of the 129th IC4A Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Princeton's Weaver Track & Field Stadium. Representatives from 43 schools competed on Friday.

Bender, the Dukes' Male Student-Athlete of the Year, broke his own school mark in the 10,000 meter run with a time 30:10.43. The mark, which was good for sixth place in the 34-athlete event, broke the school standard of 30:29.37 that the Indiana, Pa. senior had set earlier this season at the Raleigh Relays.

Slosky, who previously topped the 2003 school best set by Pat McGuire twice in his first collegiate season, finished eighth of 26 runners with a time of 9:02.66. The Brackenridge, Pa. native's first Duquesne record of 9:13.22, set at the Bucknell Classic last month, was topped last weekend at the Atlantic 10 Championships (9:08.73).

Sophomore Chris Horvat and senior Chuck Mohan also competed in the 5,000 meter run and discus throw, respectively. Duquesne is tied for 12th (four team points) with Albany and Cornell, one point behind the host Tigers.

The three-day event continues Saturday morning.
