Dukes Win Penn Relays' 4 x 400 Meters

April 28, 2005

Philadelphia, Pa. - The early results are in from the opening day of the 2005 Penn Relays and Duquesne has already made its mark. The 4 x 400 meter relay team (Erica Moody, Kristen Micsky, Amelia Sofis and Elena Resovich) won their heat Thursday with a time 3:53.32, which also set a new Duquesne record. Duquesne's previous fastest mark of 3:54.45 was set last month at the Raleigh Relays.

Duquesne's distance medley relay quartet also broke the school record with a time of 12:03.06. This seventh place finish broke the school standard of 12:05.05, set last year at this same event.

Senior Sarah Fetterman's pole vault of 3.5 meters (11 feet, 5.75 inches) broke her previous school record of 11 feet, 5.50 inches that she achieved at the UVA Lou Onesty/Milton Abramson Invite. That height was good for 9th place among 20 athletes who passed over the bar at Franklin Field.

Competition continues Friday and Saturday.
