College Park, Md. - The Dukes' women's tennis team suffered a 4-0 loss to top seeded Massachusetts in its second match of the Atlantic 10 Championships Friday afternoon. Duquesne will face the loser of the No. 3 Xavier / No. 6 Dayton match at 1:00 pm on Saturday in the fifth-place bracket.

Duquesne's No. 1 doubles pair of Jackie Hughes and Alicia McNamara were stopped 8-2 and DU's No. 2 duo Johanna Bezjak and Julie Wagner lost 8-3. The third doubles contest was suspended since the two wins gave UMass the doubles point.

In singles action, Bezjak suffered a 6-2, 6-2 defeat at first singles, Wagner lost 6-0, 6-0 at third singles and Sarah Shanahan suffered a 6-1, 6-3 fall at fourth singles thereby clinching the match for the Minutewomen. Play in the other contests were suspended at that point.

Duquesne entered the championship as the No. 8 seed. Action was held indoors at The Tennis Center at College Park due to inclement weather.
