The Duquesne women's basketball team suffered a 76-51 loss at Bowling Green Tuesday evening in a non-conference match-up. Senior Aiga Bautre became the 17th member of the Duquesne 1,000-point club in the first frame on back-to-back three pointers and ended the contest with seven. Jocelyn Chandler paced the Dukes with 11 points and seven rebounds. Bowling Green was led by Ali Mann with 14 points and 11 boards.
Duquesne put four points on the board first before the defending MAC champion Falcons rattled off a 12-0 run, seven of which came from DU turnovers, to take a 12-4 lead at 14:31. Bautre's two treys sparked a 13-5 Duquesne scoring drive which was capped by Jocelyn Chandler's three-pointer to tie the contest 12-12 with 8:23 to go. Bowling Green suffered a 3:30 scoring drought in the span, but bounced back with a 7-0 run taking advantage of DU miss cues for a 24-17 lead with 6:23 on the clock. Loui Hall got the Dukes to within a 19-24 reach, but the Falcons ended the game out-scoring the Dukes 13-6 for a 38-25 advantage at the break.
Duquesne suffered 12 turnovers in the first half which resulted in 14 BGSU points. The Falcons held a 16-12 rebounding edge and hit .519 (14-27) from the field to the Dukes' .435 (10-23).
The Red & Blue suffered poor shooting to open the second frame going 1-8 missing several second-chance opportunities as Bowling Green hit a 14-0 spree and upped its lead to a 52-27 margin in the first five minutes of action. The visiting Dukes suffered poor shooting for most of the stanza and the Falcons held a 66-32 margin with 7:22 ticking. Over the span, the Dukes saw nearly a nine-minute span without a field goal before Nicole Sinclair snapped the drought at 10:59. Duquesne shot just .308 (8-32) in the frame while BGSU connected on .500 (15-30) from the field.
For the game, the Dukes shot just .327 (18-55) while BGSU hit .509 (29-57). The Falcons held a 41-34 rebounding edge.
Duquesne falls to 3-4 on the season while the Falcons improved to a perfect 6-0 overall. After a break for finals, Duquesne will host West Virginia on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 7:05 pm.
