Duquesne punter David Kovalcik (Chantilly, Va./Chantilly) was named MAAC Rookie of the Week for his performance at Robert Morris on Saturday.
Kovalcik, who was playing in just his second game at DU, punted six times for a 47.0 yard average. He put three of his punts inside the 20 with a long kick of 55 yards.
Kovalcik is the second Duquesne player to earn MAAC Rookie of the Week honors in as many weeks.
Freshman receiver Bruce Hocker (Upper Marlboro, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) caught two passes for 60 yards, including a 30-yard TD on a fourth-and-nine play in the season-opener at Holy Cross to win Rookie of the Week honors on Sept. 6.
Hocker, who enters this weekend's Georgetown game with five catches for 101 yards, is averaging a team-best 20.2 yards per catch.
Kovalcik ranks ninth in NCAA Division I-AA with a 43.2 yards per punt average through two games.
