Raleigh, North Carolina - Duquesne University's sophomore Tara Gerlach (Erie, Pa. / Villa Maria Academy) opened the outdoor track and field season with a silver medal in the women's 1500 meter run (unseeded) at the Raleigh Relays at NC State's Derr Track on Saturday. Gerlach finished ahead of 100 other runners with a time of 4:45.33. Sophomore Elizabeth Graham's (North Huntingdon, Pa. / Norwin) mark of 4:59.94 was good for 36th in this race, held on the second day of this highly regarded yearly event.

Senior Carrie Hucko (North Allegheny, Pa. / Norwin) finished 11th of 37 runners in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 37:06.95. And Duquesne's 4x800 meter relay team also came in 11th place (of 26 teams) with a time of 9:14.03.

DU's next event is the Western PA Intercollegiate Championships next Saturday, April 3, 2004 on Saturday in Pittsburgh.
