Pittsburgh, Pa. - Duquesne University's women's tennis team suffered their second loss of the early spring season on Thursday to West Viginia by a 6-1 score. Freshman Jackie Hughes (McKeesport, Pa. / McKeesport) defeated Raynie Theis, 6-7, 6-2, 7-6, for Duquesne's lone score at the Oxford Athletic Club in Monroeville, Pa. Hughes is 4-1 in the spring sinfles action and 12-1 overall.
This was the last match before the Dukes head to the warmer climes of Kissimmee, Florida where they will have four matches between Monday, March 8 and Thursday, March 11 against Division II Rollins College, American University, UNC-Willimngton and Villanova. When the Dukes return to the Northeast thay will continue their Atlantic 10 season at Temple on Friday, March 19th.
The Dukes are 3-2 so far in the spring season, 1-0 in A-10 play and 7-2 overall.
