Berea, Ohio - Duquesne University's Melissa Stewart (Indiana, Pa. / Indiana) took the gold medal in the shot put and the silver in the 20 pound weight throw on Friday at Baldwin-Wallace's Sparky Adams Invitational. The Dukes only competed in these two events at this meet.
The sophomore's shot put throw was 41' 6.00" and her weight toss hit at 43' 4.25". In addition, sophomore Alana McClanahan (Cleveland, Ohio /Western Reserve Academy) placed fourth of 14 competitors in the weight throw with
a 40' 0.75" effort. The rest of Head Coach Bryan Delsite's squad is competing at the Bucknell's 16th Annual Winter Classic on Saturday.
Next Saturday, Feb. 21, the Dukes are headed to the Rhode Island's Mackal Field House in Kingston, R.I. for the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Championships. The competition will start at 9:45 a.m.
