Dukes Win Long Jump At Bucknell Winter Classic

Lewisburg, Pa. - Duquesne University's women's track and field team grabbed first place in the long jump at the Bucknell University 16th Annual Winter Classic Saturday at BU's Gerhard Fieldhouse. Junior Kristen Micsky (Greenville, Pa. / Reynolds) won the long jump with her mark of 17' 9.00."

Sophomore Chivon Younger (McKeesport, Pa. / Wilson Christian) and senior Nicole Wiley (New Castle, Del. / Padua Academy) were first to cross the line in their heats in the 200 meters and 400 meters races, respectively.

In addition, the Dukes (sophomores Tara Gerlach and Liz Graham, junior Alison Buchanan and senior Carrie Hucko) took first in their heat of 4 x 400 meter relay race

Also competing at the event were teams from California University (PA), Dickinson College, Frostburg State College, Hagerstown Community College, Howard University, Hunter College, Lafayette College, Moravian College, Muhlenberg College, New Jersey City College, Syracuse University, Towson University, Trinity College and Wheeling Jesuit University.

Next Saturday, Feb. 21, the Dukes are headed to the Rhode Island's Mackal Field House in Kingston, R.I. in the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Championships. The competition will start at 9:45 a.m.
