Dukes Take First at Western PA Intercollegiate Championships

April 5, 2003

The Duquesne women's track team easily captured first place Saturday at the Western PA Intercollegiate Championships hosted by Carnegie Mellon. The Dukes scored 245 points for the win taking first in eight of the 20 events. Robert Morris placed second with a team score of 187.5.

Sophomore Marcie Hepler set a CMU Gesling Stadium record in the shot put with her toss of 44' 0.00", which stands second-best in the Atlantic 10.

Duquesne tied two school records on the day as the 4 x 100 relay team (Shea McMillan, Ashley Cochran, Melissa Blackburn, Nicole Wiley) matched the DU mark with its first place time of 49.6 while Sarah Fetterman's height of 10' 0.00" in the pole vault matched her own University record and was good for first place.

Other first place finishers were Shea McMillan in the long jump (18' 0.50") and 100 meter dash (13.60), Kristen Micsky in the high jump (5' 4.00"), Elena Resovich in the 400 meter (1:00.90) and Erica DaCosta in the javelin (134' 8.00").

Duquesne travels to Virginia this weekend for the UVA Invitational.
