Duquesne University's Alina Klinova (Moscow, Russia/W1278) has been named to the 2003 Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis All-Conference Team as announced today by the league office. It is Klinova's third straight All-Conference laurel, making her the first three-time honoree for the Dukes.
Klinova, a junior, was 16-28 overall this past year going 10-15 at No. 1 and No. 2 singles and 6-13 at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. She owned a 7-10 singles mark and 5-7 doubles record for the spring season. This past spring, Klinova posted a 6-0, 6-3 win over fellow All-Atlantic 10 pick Tracy Wei of George Washington and faced some tough competition with falls to All-Conference performers Xer-Li Woo (Fordham), Erin Kirkland (Dayton) and Temple's Danira Penic, who was named A-10 Performer of the Year.
Klinova was initially named in 2001 making her the first Duquesne freshman to be awarded the honor. She also was one of two Duquesne women's tennis players to compete this past fall at the Omni Hotels East Region Championship.
Duquesne finished seventh this season at the Atlantic 10 championship. The Dukes were 8-11 overall (1-0 fall, 7-11 spring).
