Niel Loebig Named MAAC Offensive POW

Oct. 6, 2003

Junior quarterback Niel Loebig (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) has been named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Football League Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Duquesne's 36-14 win over Siena on Saturday.

Loebig completed 29-of-46 passes for 372 yards and four touchdowns (14, 20, 17, 15) as the Dukes extended their MAAC Football League winning streak to 26 games. His 29 completions tied the school record he set last year vs. Lafayette, while the 372 yards passing was the second-highest total of his career. The 372 yards also rank as the 11th-best passing yardage day by a I-AA quarterback this season.

It was the seventh career time Loebig has thrown for 300 or more yards and also the seventh time he has thrown for four or more touchdowns in a game. Loebig has now thrown for two or more scores in 21 of 27 career games.

The Dukes (3-2, 2-0) return to action this Saturday at Iona (2-3, 1-0). Game time is 1:00 p.m.
