Four Dukes Earn All-America Honors

Four Duquesne University seniors: guard Richard Greer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy), receiver Jeremy Conley (Pittsburgh, Pa./Allderdice), defensive end Bill Arbogast (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) and cornerback Leigh Bodden (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) were among 26 players named to The Sports Network I-AA Mid-Major All-America Team released today.

The team was chosen by a panel of I-AA media and sports information directors who cover the 26 mid-major programs of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Football League, the Northeast Conference and the Pioneer League. DU's four selections led all I-AA Mid-Major schools.

All 26 players selected for the Mid-Major All-America Team are automatically nominated for the The Sports Netowrk's I-AA-wide All-America team, to be announced Friday, December 13.

Greer helped the Duquesne offense average 406 yards and 33 points per game as the Dukes rolled to their fourth consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Football League title with an 8-0 conference record.

Conley caught 72 passes for 1,216 yards and 14 touchdowns on his way to being named

2002 MAAC Offensive Player of the Year. The Pittsburgh native finished his career as the leading receiver in school history with 2,696 yards. He is a two-time Sports Network All-America pick.

Arbogast led the Dukes with 23 tackles for loss including a team-high 9.0 sacks as DU finished the regular season ranked No. 1 in the nation in total defense and scoring defense.

Leigh Bodden


Bodden, the holder of every Duquesne interception record, finished the year with seven picks giving him 28 for his career. His career interception total is tied for the second-highest on the all-time I-AA list. The Hyattsville, Md. native, like Conley, is a two-time Sports Network All-American. A three-time first team All-MAAC pick, Bodden was also the league's 2002 Defensive Player of the Year.

Duquesne, winner of six of the last eight MAAC titles won its unprecedented fourth consecutive league crown this season. The Dukes (11-1) finished the season ranked No. 2 in the Sports Network Mid-Major Top 10.
