Paul Grattan

Paul Grattan joined the Duquesne football staff in 2023 as an offensive assistant and was elevated to running backs coach for the 2024 season.

In his first year leading the running backs, Grattan coached JaMario Clements to a First-Team All-NEC selection and Shawn Solomon, Jr. to NEC Offensive Rookie of the Year honors as Duquesne shared the Northeast Conference regular season title. Clements led the NEC with 986 rushing yards (89.6 per game) and 6.6 yards per carry, which ranked ninth in the FCS. His running back room played a key role in the Dukes boasting the NEC’s highest-scoring offense and most efficient red-zone offense. As a team, Duquesne averaged 153.1 rushing yards per game and scored 10 rushing touchdowns.

Grattan graduated from UCLA in 2021, where he was a two-year starter on the Bruins' offensive line. He earned Second-Team All-Pac-12 honors from multiple media outlets and was named honorable mention all-conference by the league's coaches. He began his college career at Villanova, starting all but one game from 2017-2019. In 2019, he was a First-Team All-CAA selection and helped lead the Wildcats to an FCS playoff bid.

As an undrafted free agent, Grattan attended rookie camp with the Seattle Seahawks before signing with the Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL for the 2023 season.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Grattan was an All-State selection out of Mt. Lebanon High School.
