Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University Department of Athletics announced Tuesday a new partnership with Golf Galaxy, a premier specialty golf retailer, focused on supporting the women's golf program. Through the sponsorship, Golf Galaxy will assist the team with access to custom gear and the latest technology while serving as the title sponsor of the program's inaugural home tournament. The Golf Galaxy Collegiate is scheduled for Sept. 28-29, 2026, at Sewickley Heights Golf Club.

"This unique, first-of-its-kind partnership will provide valuable support to our women's golf program, provide individual opportunities for student-athletes and be the flag-bearing sponsor for Duquesne's first-ever home golf tournament. We couldn't be more excited, as this partnership will help elevate the program moving forward."

Women's golf was added in April of 2022 at Duquesne along with triathlon and acrobatics & tumbling. The Dukes will enter their third season as an NCAA Division I program in 2026-27 under the tutelage of Colleen Meyers, who was selected as head coach of the team in August of 2023.

In its first two seasons as an NCAA Division I program, Duquesne has consistently ranked in the top five among the University's 20 collegiate programs for team grade point average (GPA). Included among those rankings is the top GPA in the department in the spring of 2025 at 3.8067. Multiple student-athletes have been named Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars the last two years, while junior Sasha Petrochko was named to the 2025-26 Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team.
 
Petrochko, a biochemistry major, has maintained a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA during her undergraduate tenure on the Bluff. She is also a two-time Atlantic 10 All-Conference honoree (2025, 2026) and has played every round of every tournament for the Dukes in the program's first two seasons, a total of 42 rounds. Petrochko owns a career scoring average of 76.0 and in 16 career tournaments owns nine finishes in the top 10, including four in the top five.  
 
"These ladies should be celebrated, as they are exceptional students who are playing golf at the highest NCAA level while excelling in rigorous majors such as business, biochemistry, nursing and ROTC," Meyers said. "They can show future student-athletes that you can balance sports, a career and community."
 
Duquesne will open its 2026-27 campaign and third season of NCAA Division I by competing in the Nittany Lion Invitational Monday, Sept. 7, and Tuesday, Sept. 8, in University Park, Pa., at the Penn State Blue Course. The Dukes will also participate in the Bucknell Fall Invitational (Sept. 11-13) before the Golf Galaxy Collegiate at Sewickley Heights Country Club. A practice round will take place Sunday, Sept. 27, before 18 holes both Monday, Sept. 28, and Tuesday, Sept. 29.
