Muir Earns A-10 Postgraduate Scholarship

Physical therapy major will continue in preprofessional program at Duquesne

Pittsburgh, Pa. – Senior Mackenzie Muir of the Duquesne University women's soccer team was named a recipient of the 2026 Atlantic 10 Postgraduate Scholarship Thursday. Muir is one of 14 student-athletes from across the conference, one from each institution, bestowed the postgraduate scholarship.

Muir, a native of Avon, Ohio, is a physical therapy major at Duquesne and has maintained a 3.80 cumulative grade point average (GPA). A three-time member of the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Team (2023, 2024, 2025) as well as a three-time member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll (2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25), Muir will continue her academic career in physical therapy with the preprofessional program at Duquesne.

Owning 67 starts among 69 career games played the last four seasons on the Bluff, Muir was a member of the starting lineup in each of her final 46 contests. She concluded her career with 41 points thanks to 14 goals and 13 assists, with her career assist total ranking fifth all-time for the Dukes. She is also tied for fourth in the Duquesne career record book for game-winning goals (8) and also finished a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kick over the last four years.

During her final season with the Dukes in 2025, Muir was one of nine players to start all 19 games. She helped guide Duquesne to an overall record of 12-5-2 (.684), including 7-3 in the Atlantic 10 (.700), as the Dukes matched a school record for victories under first-year head coach Jessica Giegucz. Muir finished third on the squad in scoring last season with 13 points courtesy of six goals and an assist, and of her six goals, two were game winners.

For her efforts in her final season on the Bluff, Muir earned a spot on the 2025 Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team while also being named to the 2025 United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Third Team. Also during her career for the Dukes, Muir garnered a spot on the 2022 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team after her freshman campaign.

The Atlantic 10 Postgraduate Scholarship program is given to a graduating student-athlete from each of the league's 14 members to provide financial benefits for advanced academic degrees. The selection process involves A-10 athletic directors, senior woman administrators and faculty athletic representatives. To be considered, a student-athlete must have performed with distinction both in the classroom and in their respective sport throughout their career while demonstrating exemplary conduct in the community. The program is part of the conference's broad-based commitment to student-athlete opportunities and academics.
