Dukes Earn Second Sweep of NEC Weekly Awards

Baker named NEC Bowler of the Week, Scott takes top weekly rookie honor

Pittsburgh, Pa. – For the second time this season, a pair of Duquesne University bowlers garnered the top weekly honors from the Northeast Conference (NEC), as junior Maribeth Baker was named NEC Bowler of the Week, while freshman Jazmyn Scott was selected as NEC Rookie of the Week. Scott shares the accolade this week with Dakota Collins of Niagara.

At the Mount Shootout last weekend in Mount Joy, Pa., at Clearview Lanes, Baker, a native of York, Pa., claimed her second career individual crown, averaging 242.80 in five traditional games. She knocked down 1,214 total pins, 46 more than second place. Baker opened traditional play with a 266 in a victory over No. 8 Niagara as Duquesne earned a 1,199-1,026 victory, with the score for the Dukes the second highest in program history in a traditional game. Baker would later add a 277 in a 1,022-935 triumph over Mercyhurst, her second highest score in a game on the Bluff.

Logging a 92 overall fill percentage as well as an average frame of 24.28, a season high, at the Mount Shootout in traditional play, Baker also averaged a season-high 9.50 on her first ball and posted a 74 percent (37-for-50) strike percentage. In Baker play, she finished with a 90.2 overall fill percentage, an average of 22.38 per frame and a 9.38 on her first ball.

Overall during the 2025-26 campaign, Baker has completed 772 frames and owns an average frame of 20.62 and a 9.08 on her first ball to go along with an overall fill percentage of 83.7. She also has recorded a makeable spare percentage of 76.3 and paces the Dukes in strikes with 431.

Scott, a native of Urbana, Ohio, earns her second NEC Rookie of the Week nod after finishing 23rd individually at the Mount Shootout. She knocked down 1,028 total pins for an average of 205.60, including a 245 in the opening game of traditional play, the win over the Bulldogs, while also firing a 218 in an 1,101-747 victory over Holy Family.

Logging a career best in both average frame (20.56) and overall fill percentage (88) at the Mount Shootout, Scott also averaged 8.94 on her first ball, which tied a mark she set last fall at the Colonial Lanes Classic. In Baker action, Scott averaged 19.35 per frame, also a personal standard, while logging an 84.1 overall fill percentage and an 8.71 on her first ball.

Scott has completed 714 frames this year and owns an average frame of 18.41 to go along with an overall fill percentage of 80.2 and an 8.75 on her first ball. She owns 281 strikes and has been successful on 77.4 percent (288-of-372) of her makeable spares.

The honors for Baker and Scott mark the second time this season the pair were honored in the same week, as the duo was also honored Nov. 25, 2025, after their performance at the Colonial Lanes Classic, which was hosted by Tulane. For Baker, she has now claimed a total of three NEC Bowler of the Week honors over her career.

In addition to the accolades for Baker and Scott, senior Emma Siekierski and junior Ivanna Fraticelli collected NEC Prime Performer plaudits. Siekierski, a native of Davidson, Mich., finished 11th individually at the Mount Shootout, averaging 214.20 in five games. She eclipsed 200 in each of the first four games of traditional play, including a 235 in a triump over FDU. The Dukes own an overall record of 41-35 (.549) and are next in action this weekend with NEC #2.
