Wexford, Pa. – The Duquesne University women's tennis team extended its winning streak to four straight wins after capturing a 5-2 victory over Mercyhurst during non-conference action at the Oxford Athletic Club. With the win, the Dukes improved to 9-7 overall this season and 7-2 during home matches.

Duquesne came out firing during doubles play, sweeping all three matches. At the first spot, senior Kaya Rand and sophomore Mila Badics secured a 6-1 win over Kayla Dean and Roisin Murphy while sophomores Alexandra O'Brien and Sofia Serrano captured a 7-6 (7-4) win over Daria Rogova and Andjela Mrvaljevic. At the last slot, freshmen Sofia Lopez-Linares Perez and Denisse Arinez Guilarte secured a 6-2 win over Sara Bertolez Puente and Kiersten Brown.

During singles play, the Dukes bounced back, winning the final four matches to take the victory. Badics fell to Dean, 6-2, 6-0 at the number one spot while Rand dropped a 7-5, 6-2 decision to Rogova at the two spot. At third singles, O'Brien collected a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 win over Murphy before Lopez-Linares secured a 6-3, 6-2 win over Puente at the fourth spot. At the final two singles matches, Arinez Guilarte tallied a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Brown before Serrano capped the day with a  3-6, 6-1, 10-8 win over Mrvaljevic.

Duquesne concludes its regular season when it hosts Saint Louis on Saturday, April 19 for an Atlantic 10 match at the Oxford Athletic Club, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
