Richmond, Va. – The Duquesne University women's tennis team began a two-match road trip on Saturday, dropping a 6-1 decision at Richmond. With the loss, the Dukes fall to 5-7 overall and 2-1 in Atlantic 10 play.
In doubles play, the Spiders took the point after winning the first two matches. Sophomore

Kaya Rand dropped a 6-3 decision to Sofia Barbulescu / Elizabeth Novak before juniors
Taisia Yakunina and Jasa Rand fell to Claire Le Du / Lainey O'Neil, 6-3 in the second slot.
Richmond kept the momentum in singles play, taking five of six matches. Freshman
Sofia Lopez-Linares Perez captured the lone win for the Dukes at sixth singles, defeating Lucy Webber, 1-6, 7-5, 1-0. At the top spot, Rand fell to Barbulescu 6-1, 6-4 while Rand dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Andrea Campodonico at the second slot. At third singles, Roka was downed by Bakhaya, 6-0, 6-1 while Yakunina dropped a 6-2, 7-5 match to Le Du. At the fifth singles, sophomore
Alexandra O'Brien was downed by Novak 6-2, 6-2.
