Wexford, Pa. – The Duquesne University women's tennis team hosted Cleveland State on Sunday afternoon, dropping a 5-2 decision at the Oxford Athletic Club. With the loss, the Dukes drop to 5-6 overall this season.

The Vikings took the early point after taking two of three doubles matches. Freshmen Denisse Arinez Guilarte and Sofia Lopez-Linares Perez picked up a 6-2 win over Jenna Redmile and Filippa Frogner at third doubles while senior Kaya Rand and sophomore Mila Badics dropped a 6-3 decision to Oihane Vicario and Sima Heren at the first slot. At second doubles, junior Jasa Roka and sophomore Alexandra O'Brien lost to Tereze Vevere and Ella Franz 6-0.

In singles play, Cleveland State took four of six matches to take the win. Badics fell to Vicario 7-5, 6-1 at the top spot while Rand dropped a 6-1, 3-6, 11-9 match to Heren at the second slot. At third singles, Roka fell to Vevere 6-4, 6-1 before O'Brien lot to Frnaz 6-4, 6-4. At the final two spots, junior Taisia Yakunina captured a 7-6 (4), 7-5 victory over Redmile while Lopez-Linares Perez secured a win over Frogner, 6-3, 6-3.

Duquesne travels to Virginia to face Richmond on Saturday, March 29 before traveling to George Mason on Sunday, March 30.
