Wexford, Pa. – The Duquesne University men's tennis team started Atlantic 10 play this afternoon, dropping a 7-0 decision to Dayton at the Wexford Athletic Club. With the loss, the Dukes fall to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in conference action.

In doubles play, the Flyers captured victories at the top two spots, earning them the doubles points. Freshmen Arnau Anton Garcia and Uvan patel fell to Brady Hussey and Kyle McNally 6-2 before junior Alfrendo Vogelaar and freshman Teo Papadopoulos dropped a 6-2 loss to Eric Suk and Mikkel Zinder. At the last spot, freshman Aril Kayra Tuna and Enrique Lana were trailing Sai Dore and Sturle Skigelstrand 5-3 before being registered unfinished.

Dayton continued its momentum in singles action, taking all six matches to secure the win. At the top spot, Vogelaar fell to McNally 6-0, 6-1 before Anton Garcia dropped a 6-4, 6-1 loss to Zinder. At third singles, Tuna was dealt a 6-7 (5-7), 6-0, 10-5 loss to Skigelstrand before Lana fell to Dore 7-5, 2-6, 10-2. In the final two slots, Patel lost to Ridstrom 6-1, 6-2 while freshman Tancredi Alfano was dealt a 7-5, 6-0 loss at the sixth slot.

Duquesne returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 15 when it welcomes Bucknell for a non-conference match, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Wexford Athletic Club.
