Men's Tennis Fends Off Leopards

Wexford, Pa. – The Duquesne men's tennis team hosted Lafayette on Saturday afternoon, registering a 4-3 victory inside the Oxford Athletic Club. With the win, the Dukes jumped to 2-4 overall this season.

In doubles play, Duquesne rallied and won two of three matches to secure the point. Freshmen Aril Kayra Tuna and Enriquoe Lana secured a 6-3 win over Tyler Mahaffey and Aidan Mahaffey while Freshmen Uvan Patel and Teo Papadopoulos secured a 6-2 win over Derrin Lerner and Sam Gelber.

During singles competition, both teams split the six matches, giving the Dukes the victory. At the top spot, junior Keita Duclos fell 6-4, 6-2 to Arman Ganchi while junior ALfrendo Vogelaar secured a 6-2, 6-7, 6-1 win over McKenzie. At third singles, Tuna captured a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Derrin Lerner while Lana fell to Magnusson, 6-3, 6-0. At the final two spots, freshman Tancredi Alfano captured a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Tyler Mahaffey before junior Chris Cianciotti dell to Owen Studdiford, 8-3.

Duquesne returns to Oxford Athletic Club on Sunday, Feb. 23, when it welcomes Niagara for a non-conference match, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
