Wexford, Pa. – The Duquesne University women's tennis team won its second straight match on Sunday afternoon, securing a 4-3 victory over Niagara at the Oxford Athletic Club during non-conference action. With the win, the Dukes improved to 4-5 on the season.

Duquesne jumped out to an early lead in during double competition, taking two of three matches to secure the early point. At the number one spot, Sophomore Mila Badics and senior Kaya Rand downed Gabriela Melo and Isabel Garcia, 6-3 at the top spot while freshmen Sofia Lopez-Linares Perez and Denisse Arinez Guilarte tallied a 6-1 win over Mercedes Velasco and Saloni Tamang at the third spot. Junior Taisia Yakunina and sophomore Sofia Serrano fell to Valeria Mora and Larisa Kotok, 6-2.

The two teams split the singles matches, securing the Dukes the victory. At the top spot, Badics fell to Melo 6-1, 4-6, 6-7 while Rand secured a 6-3, 6-4 over Garcia at the two spot. At the third slot, Yakunina downed Velasco, 6-3, 6-2 while Lopez-Linares Perez dropped a 7-6 (5-0), 7-6 (6-0) to Kotok. At the final two slots, Arinez Guilarte secured a 6-4, 6-7 (2-0), 6-3 win over Tamang as Serrano fell to Mora, 6-2, 2-6, 3-4.
