Opening Tip

- The Duquesne University men's basketball team opens a two-game road trip Saturday with a 4:00 p.m. tip against St. Bonaventure in Olean, N.Y., at the Reilly Center.

- The Dukes, winners of two of their last three games, are coming off a 73-64 victory over Fordham (Feb. 19) at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse. Junior forward David Dixon scored 10 of his team-high 14 points in the first half and led five players in double figures in the triumph while also adding five rebounds and four blocks.

- Senior guard Tre Dinkins III and redshirt junior guard Cam Crawford each contributed 13 points in the win over the Rams, senior forward Jahsean Corbett tallied 12 points and three steals and sophomore forward Eli Wilborn finished with 10 points, a team-high six rebounds, each of which came on the offensive glass, and two rejections.

- The lone starter not to reach double figures in the victory over Fordham, junior forward Matúš Hronský, scored seven points while also tallying four rebounds, a career-high seven assists, two steals and a pair of blocks.

- Eleven of Duquesne's 15 losses have been by seven points or less, including eight by five points or fewer. In Atlantic 10 road games, the five losses for the Dukes have come by a combined 18 points, with Duquesne falling by one (at Dayton), two (at Fordham), four (at Saint Joseph's), five (at Richmond) and six (at Davidson) points.

- The 2024-25 season marks the 109th year of Duquesne basketball. The Dukes started play in 1913-14 (DU did not field a team in 1944-45-46 due to World War II). Duquesne, which has posted back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since 1971 & 1972, are three wins shy of 1,500 as an NCAA program.

- The leading active scorer for the Dukes is senior forward Jahsean Corbett, who owns career totals of 1,550 points and 872 rebounds. Corbett, who eclipsed 1,500 career points with a layup in the first half at Saint Joseph's (Jan. 29), amassed totals of 1,303 points and 725 rebounds in three seasons at Chicago State prior to transferring to Duquesne.

- The Dukes will close out their two-game road swing after taking on St. Bonaventure by traveling to Philadelphia, Pa., Wednesday, Feb. 26, for a 6:30 p.m. tip at La Salle.

At The Helm – Dru Joyce III was named the 18th head coach in the 109-year history of Duquesne basketball March 28, 2024. Joyce III, a native of Akron, Ohio, spent two seasons as associate head coach for the Dukes under Keith Dambrot from 2022 to 2024, helping guide Duquesne to an overall record of 45-25 (.643), including a 20-16 (.556) mark in the Atlantic 10, during that span. The Dukes made an appearance in the 2023 College Basketball Invitational (CBI) before earning the automatic bid for the A-10 in the 2024 NCAA Championship by winning four games in five days en route to the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championship crown in Brooklyn, N.Y., at the Barclays Center. Duquesne, as a No. 11 seed, made its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 1977 and earned its first victory in the championship since 1969 thanks to a 71-67 win over No. 6 seed BYU in Omaha, Neb., at CHI Health Center Arena.

Scouting the Bonnies – Saturday marks the 136th game between the two programs in a series that dates to Feb. 13, 1920 … St. Bonaventure is Duquesne's most frequent all-time opponent … The average score in the first 135 meetings? DU 71.6, SBU 70.9 (9,669 to 9,574 points, 95-point difference) … The 2024-25 season marks the 74th consecutive year the two have met and 20th straight year the two will meet in a home-and-home … DU owns more conference wins over SBU (36) than any other A-10 school … St. Bonaventure leads the series, 70-65, but the Dukes have won the last five contests over the Bonnies … In the first meeting of the 2024-25 series at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse (Jan. 18), the Dukes matched a season high with 14 three-pointers in a 75-57 victory … Duquesne used an early 14-2 run to open up a 25-12 advantage en route to the victory as redshirt junior guard Maximus Edwards paced the Dukes with 17 points off the bench on 6-of-8 shooting, including 5-for-7 from beyond the arc.

Fordham Leftovers – Duquesne earned a split in the season series with the victory and improved to 30-22 (.577) all-time against the Rams ... In addition to splitting the season series with Fordham, the Dukes also split this season with Saint Joseph's while dropping a pair to Dayton ... Duquesne concludes its home-and-home with St. Bonaventure Saturday to wrap up its four conference pairings of the Atlantic 10 schedule ... The Rams held a 35-34 edge in rebounding, with each team registering 11 offensive boards ... The Dukes owned advantages in points off turnovers (15-10), points in the paint (38-32), points on the break (18-9) and second chance opportunities (9-3) ... The bench for both Fordham and Duquesne scored 18 points ... The Dukes matched a season low in three-pointers, finishing 4-for-16 (25%) from beyond the arc ... Duquesne also finished with four three-pointers in a 67-54 win over Old Dominion (Nov. 26) as part of the 2024 Cayman Island Classic as well as vs. Massachusetts (Feb. 1) ... The Dukes finished 21-of-26 at the free-throw line, one off a season high for free throws and a season-best 80.8 percent success rate (minimum 20 attempts) at the stripe ... Duquesne reached double figures in both blocks (10) and steals (10) for the second time this season.

3/2/1 | 250/500/1,000 – Duquesne enters Saturday's game at St. Bonaventure with a number of student-athletes on the precipice of hitting career milestones. Junior guard Kareem Rozier, who ranks 12th in the Atlantic 10 this season in assists per game (3.54), is three assists shy of reaching 250 for his career. Senior guard Tre Dinkins III, who has scored in double figures in 11 consecutive games, is just two points shy of reaching the 1,000-point plateau. Dinkins III owns an NCAA Division I career scoring average of 11.3 points per game entering Saturday and, should he reach the mark against the Bonnies, would hit the milestone in his 89th career game. Finally, the next rebound for redshirt junior guard Maximus Edwards will mark the 500th of his career. Edwards grabbed 413 boards in two years at George Washington prior to transferring to Duquesne and would be the second member of the Dukes with at least 500 caroms. Senior forward Jahsean Corbett is the program's active leader for career rebounds with 872.

Frontcourt Flash – Sophomore forward Eli Wilborn was a key factor on the low block for Duquesne in a 73-64 victory over Fordham (Feb. 19), as he was one of five players to score in double figures with 10 points. Wilborn finished 3-for-7 from the field and 4-of-5 at the free-throw line in the win and in the process became the 10th different player for the Dukes this season to score 10 or more points in a game as a member of the starting lineup. The performance came just a game after senior forward Jahsean Corbett scored 11 points at Dayton (Feb. 15), becoming the 11th different player for the Dukes this season to reach double figures off the bench. Corbett, meanwhile, scored 12 points in the win over the Rams as he was inserted into the starting lineup for sophomore forward Jakub Necas, who missed the game due to injury. It marked the eighth different starting lineup of the 2024-25 season for Duquesne.

Diamond Dave – Junior forward David Dixon paced the Dukes in a 73-64 victory over Fordham (Feb. 19), scoring 10 of his 14 points in the first half to bolster Duquesne. Dixon is, amazingly, the ninth different player for the Dukes this season to lead the team in scoring in a game, a category that is led by senior guard Tre Dinkins III with 10. In the first half against the Rams, Dixon also provided three highlight reel dunks, pushing his career total in the category to 98. Dixon is just two dunks shy of 100 for his career in looking to become just the second player on record in school history to reach career totals of both 100 dunks and 100 blocks. Former forward Damian Saunders (2008-11) owns career records in both categories with 166 jams and 300 rejections.

Tre Day – Senior guard Tre Dinkins III reached double figures in scoring for the 11th consecutive game, the longest streak by a student-athlete for the Dukes this season, by contributing 13 points in a 73-64 win over Fordham (Feb. 19). Over the last 11 contests, Dinkins III is averaging 15.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game while shooting 44.1 percent (60-for-136) from the field, including 38 percent (30-for-79) from beyond the arc, and 82.8 percent (24-for-29) at the free-throw line. He's also done a solid job distributing over that same time frame, handing out 33 assists (3.00 per game) while also registering 14 steals. Dinkins enters Saturday's game at St. Bonaventure ranked ninth in the Atlantic 10 in three-point field goals per game (2.38) while also sitting 16th in three-point field goal percentage (38.5%).
