Emersen Schrom of the Duquesne volleyball team has been selected as the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for the fourth time this season, announced by the league office Monday.
The Pittsburgh native powered the Dukes to their sixth consecutive win, averaging 6.13 points, 5.63 kills, and 2.38 digs per set while hitting .372, amassing 45 kills and 19 digs over the weekend's two matches
Schrom kicked off the weekend with her 12th double-double of the season, recording 28 kills and 10 digs while hitting .462 in a 3-1 win over Davidson. It was her seventh match this season with 20 or more kills. She followed that with 17 kills and nine digs, adding two blocks and two service aces in a 3-1 victory over the Wildcats.
The sophomore continues to lead Duquesne on offense, topping the Atlantic 10 in six different categories. She ranks 11th nationally with 434 kills this season, the third-highest single-season total in program history. Schrom has also accumulated 498.5 points, placing her 10th in NCAA Division I, while her 4.94 points per set ranks 25th. The outside hitter is averaging 4.30 kills per set, good for 32nd in the nation. The Hampton native has recorded double-digit kills in 23 matches and has led the Dukes in kills on 22 occasions this season.
Schrom becomes the first player in program history to earn the honor four times in a single season, and it's also the second time this year she has claimed it in consecutive weeks.
