- The Duquesne University women's soccer team opens its Atlantic 10 schedule Thursday in concluding a three-game road trip with a 5:00 p.m. match against Richmond at President's Field at River Road. The Dukes are in search of their sixth consecutive victory.
- Thanks to a
2-1 triumph at Youngstown State in its final non-conference game of the year, Duquesne matched its best start in school history at 6-1 (.857). The 1998 Dukes also opened the season with a 6-1 mark through seven matches.
- Junior forward
Brianna Moore scored both goals in the win over the Penguins, including the game-winner at 75:57 on a feed from senior
Mackenzie Leeder. Moore has scored a goal in four consecutive games, registering a trio of braces, and during that stretch owns seven goals and an assist.
- Duquesne held a 27-7 edge in shots at Youngstown State, including 12-3 in shots on net, and through the first seven matches of the 2024 season has outshot its opponents, 160-60.
- Scoring a goal in the first 15 minutes of each half, the Dukes opened their road trip with a
2-0 victory over Saint Francis U in Loretto, Pa., at the Stokes Soccerplex.
- Duquesne enters its Atlantic 10 opener Thursday at Richmond tied for sixth in NCAA Division I with Fairfield in scoring offense at 3.43 goals per game. Arkansas (5.83) leads the country, followed by Florida State (4.00), Stephen F. Austin (4.00) and Utah State (3.75).
- Thanks to nine points (four goals, assist) in wins over Slippery Rock and Kent State, junior forward
Brianna Moore was named the
Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week. Moore is the
second member of the Dukes to garner the honor in 2024, joining class teammate
Margey Brown.
- Duquesne boasts the top two scorers in the Atlantic 10 as conference play commences, with junior forward
Margey Brown owning 20 points thanks to eight goals and four assists, while fellow forward classmate
Brianna Moore sits second with 15 points courtesy of seven goals and a helper.
- A total of nine starters return for the Dukes in 2024, including each of the top three scorers. Junior forward
Maya Matesa tied for fifth in the Atlantic 10 in goals (7) last season while posting a team-high 15 points.
- Eleven different Dukes have scored in the first seven matches of the 2024 campaign, with the junior class having accounted for 55 of Duquesne's 69 points (79.7%).
- The Dukes return home to Rooney Field after taking on the Spiders, welcoming Davidson Sunday, Sept. 22, at 1:00 p.m. to open a three-match homestand that also features games against Rhode Island (Sept. 26) and Dayton (Sept. 29).

Ride The Wave – During its five-game winning streak, junior forward
Brianna Moore has been the main offensive weapon for the Dukes, scoring all 15 of her points on the year during that span. She also has taken a team-high 23 shots, including 16 on net, during that stretch. Junior forward
Margey Brown has scored 11 points over the last five games with four goals and three assists as Duquesne has outscored its foes, 17-3, and outshot its opponents, 114-35. Meanwhile, senior
Maddy Neundorfer has been a rock at goalkeeper. She owns two shutouts and a combined shutout in the last five games with an 0.63 goals against average and an .842 save percentage.
Moore Scoring – In addition to her offensive output during Duquesne's five-game winning streak, junior forward
Brianna Moore is proving she can be opportunistic. During that stretch she owns three-game winning goals, a total that is tied for the Atlantic 10 lead with Taylor Harrison of Loyola Chicago. The trio of game-winning goals is also tied for sixth in NCAA Division I, as Kailyn Dudukovich of Ohio State leads the country in the category with five, while four other student-athletes own four.
That Was Quick – It took junior forward
Margey Brown all of six matches to become the seventh player in program history to reach the 20-point threshold in a season. She is tied for sixth in the Duquesne single-season record book for points along with Erin McKane, Audra Mathews and Katie O'Connor. Mathews owns the single-season school record for the Dukes in points with 27 courtesy of eight goals and 11 assists in 2004.
Hey, Junior – Margey Brown and
Brianna Moore are at the head of a junior class for Duquesne that is putting up some prolific numbers as a group. Thanks to
Emma Hospodka picking up her first two career points with a goal in a 7-0 win over Slippery Rock, she is part of a class that has combined for 122 points over the last three seasons thanks to 43 goals and 36 assists. Moore is the program's active leader in both goals (13) and points (29), while Brown sits second with 28 career points. Midfielder
Mackenzie Muir, meanwhile, is the program's active career leader in assists (10) and has scored 22 points, while forward
Maya Matesa has tallied 23 points thanks to 10 goals and three assists.
