Washington, D.C. – For the second consecutive week, freshman outside hitter Emersen Schrom of the Duquesne University volleyball team has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week after her performance at the Comfort Inn-Vitational, announced by the league office Monday.

Schrom helped the Dukes go 2-1 over the weekend while posting three straight matches with double-digit kills. She averaged 4.25 points and 3.50 kills per set while hitting at a .280 percent clip. Schrom totaled 42 kills, 8.0 blocks, and five service aces over the weekend for the Dukes. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native opened the weekend with 14 successful swings on a .294 hitting percentage while collecting five blocks and a pair of aces against Morehead State. She followed it up with her second-best performance of the season, ending with 16 kills while tying her season-best with a 3.75 hitting percentage in a 3-0 sweep over Evansville. Schrom tallied four digs, two blocks, and a service ace against the Aces. The freshman ended the weekend by helping Duquesne win a five-set thriller against Eastern Michigan. She totaled 12 kills to go along with four digs, two aces, and a block in the 3-2 victory.

Continuing to enjoy a prolific freshman season, Schrom currently ranks among the top spots in the conference. She sits third in the league in points per set (4.11) while leading the A-10 in aces per stanza (0.58). Her 19 service aces currently rank second while her 3.27 kills per set are tabbed fifth. The Hampton product has tallied 108 total kills so far this season, ranking sixth in the league as she has recorded seven straight matches with double-figure kills.
