Pittsburgh, Pa. – Sophomore outside hitter
Emersen Schrom of the Duquesne volleyball team earned two major postseason honors announced by the conference office on Thursday. Schrom was selected to the 2025 Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team and also secured a spot on the All-Academic Team.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Schrom delivered a historic sophomore season. She was one of five Dukes to appear in all 29 matches and one of just four to play in all 111 sets. Schrom emerged as one of the nation's and the Atlantic 10's most dangerous offensive weapons, ranking eighth in Division I with 552.5 points. Her 4.98 points per set placed 23rd nationally, and her 485 kills were the 10th most in the country. She averaged 4.37 kills per set, good for 30th in the nation, while her 44 service aces ranked fifth in the conference and 38th in NCAA Division I.
Schrom made history in just her second year on the Bluff. She became the first player in program history to earn Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors four times in a single season and set a new Duquesne single-season kills record, surpassing Amanda Haeg's 470 from 2006. The Hampton product tallied double-digit kills in 25 matches and posted nine performances with 20 or more, including a career-high 29 on two occasions. She also recorded a team-leading 13 double-doubles and tied for the team lead with 15 matches of double-digit digs. Defensively, she ranked fifth on the team with 45.0 total blocks while adding three or more service aces in five matches and leading the Dukes in aces 13 times.
The Pittsburgh native made her presence felt early in the season, earning Most Valuable Player honors at both the YSU Invitational and the Chick-fil-A Robinson Classic, and later securing a spot on the All-Tournament Team at the Best Western Invitational.
Schrom becomes the second Duke in as many years to earn a place on the All-Academic Team, carrying a perfect 4.00 grade point average while pursuing her degree in marketing. It also marks her second straight season receiving postseason recognition from the conference, after being named to the All-Rookie Team last year.
