- The Duquesne University women's soccer team continues a three-game road trip Sunday with its final non-conference clash of the 2024 season with a 1:00 p.m. match in Youngstown, Ohio, against Youngstown State at Farmers National Bank Field. The Dukes are in search of their fifth consecutive win.
- Scoring a goal in the first 15 minutes of each half, Duquesne opened its road trip with a
2-0 victory over Saint Francis U in Loretto, Pa., at the Stokes Soccerplex.
- Junior forward
Brianna Moore gave the Dukes a 1-0 lead over the Red Flash on the first shot of the match from either team, while junior forward
Margey Brown scored a goal in her sixth consecutive game to open the 2024 season at 56:02, her eighth of the campaign.
- Duquesne held a 19-4 edge in shots over the Red Flash, including 14-3 in shots on goal, and through the first six matches of the 2024 season have outshot its opponents, 133-53.
- The Dukes enter action this weekend ranked fourth in NCAA Division I in scoring offense at 3.67 goals per contest. Arkansas tops the country at 5.83 per game, followed by Auburn and Florida State, which each average 4.00 goals per contest. Combined, those four teams own a record 22-1-2 (.920).
- Thanks to nine points (four goals, assist) in wins over Slippery Rock and Kent State, junior forward
Brianna Moore was named the
Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week. Moore is the
second member of the Dukes to garner the honor in 2024, joining class teammate
Margey Brown.

Margey Brown is atop the leaderboard in the Atlantic 10 in goals (8) and points (20), with each total ranking fourth in NCAA Division I. Brown leads the nation in both goals (1.33) and points (3.33) per game.
- A total of nine starters return for the Dukes in 2024, including each of the top three scorers. Junior forward
Maya Matesa tied for fifth in the Atlantic 10 in goals (7) last season while posting a team-high 15 points.
- Eleven different Dukes have scored in the first six matches of the 2024 campaign, with the junior class having accounted for 51 of Duquesne's 64 points (79.7%).
- The Dukes will open their Atlantic 10 schedule and wrap up a three-game road trip after taking on the Penguins Sunday. Duquesne heads to Richmond, Va., Thursday, Sept. 19, for a 5:00 p.m. match to take on Richmond.

Brianna Moore and
Margey Brown have each scored 11 points, with Moore owning five goals and an assist and Brown having tallied four markers and three assists. Duquesne has outscored its opponents, 15-2, in that span and also owns an 87-28 edge in shots, including 55-19 in shots on goal. Meanwhile, senior
Maddy Neundorfer has been a rock at goalkeeper. She owns two shutouts and a combined shutout in the last four games with an 0.54 goals against average and an .882 save percentage.
Picking Your Spots – Junior midfielder
Mackenzie Muir has been a key component for Duquesne this season directing the offense yet is able to find the space in the right spot to get her shot off. Tied for second in the Atlantic 10 in assists (5) with Diana Benigno of Dayton, Muir has taken 13 shots through six matches, 11 of which have been on goal. Her shot accuracy of 84.6 percent leads NCAA Division I along with Sydney Clarke of Mount St. Mary's, who owns three goals on 13 shots, 11 of which have also been on goal.
That Was Quick – Just six matches into the 2024 campaign, junior forward
Margey Brown has become the seventh player in program history to reach the 20-point threshold in a season. She is tied for sixth in the Duquesne single-season record book for points along with Erin McKane, Audra Mathews and Katie O'Connor. Mathews owns the single-season school record for the Dukes in points with 27 courtesy of eight goals and 11 assists in 2004.
Hey, Junior – The offensive outburst from
Margey Brown early this season has vaulted her atop the roster as Duquesne's active leader in points (28), but she is part of a junior class that is putting up some prolific numbers as a group. Thanks to
Emma Hospodka picking up her first two career points with a goal in a 7-0 win over Slippery Rock, she is part of a class that has combined for 117 points over the last three seasons thanks to 41 goals and 35 assists. In addition to the 28 points for Brown, forward
Brianna Moore is the program's active career leader in goals (11) and owns 25 points, midfielder
Mackenzie Muir is the active career leader in assists (10) and has scored 22 points, while forward
Maya Matesa has tallied 23 points thanks to 10 goals and three assists.
