- The Duquesne University men's soccer team takes to the road for the first time during the 2024 season Sunday, traveling to Cincinnati, Ohio, for a 3:00 p.m. match against Xavier at Corcoran Field.

- The Dukes are coming off a
3-1 victory over Canisius that wrapped up a two-game homestand at Rooney Field to open their 2024 season. Tied, 1-1, heading into the second half, Duquesne got goals from freshman
Roni Badler and
Ali Nasser to lift the Dukes to the win.

- In his first start of the 2024 season, junior
Jaxon Ervin gave Duquesne the early lead against the Golden Griffins with his first NCAA goal at 19:04. He added an assist on the goal from Badler and in the early going of the year owns a team-high four points.

- The Dukes opened their 2024 campaign with a
3-1 victory over Seton Hill, scoring a pair of goals in the second half to snap a 1-1 halftime tie.

Ashton Jell collected his first collegiate goal at 62:20 to give Duquesne the lead over the Griffins, while senior
Maxi Hopfer added an insurance marker at 76:49 to settle the final score.

- The Dukes are led by head coach
Chase Brooks, who is in his 12th season leading the program in 2024. Brooks has posted a record of 79-83-25 (.489) on the sidelines at Duquesne. Thanks to the win over Seton Hill, Brooks picked up his 100th career victory as a head coach.

- In the first half against the Griffins in the 2024 season opener, Seton Hill grabbed an early 1-0 lead before freshman
Marko Rasmussen scored the equalizer at 31:25 for his first NCAA Division I marker.

- A total of eight different players have scored through the first two games of the 2024 season for Duquesne, including four that have registered their first NCAA goal.

- Senior forward
Maxi Hopfer was named to the 2024 All-Atlantic 10 Preseason Team at forward in a vote of league head coaches. In his last full season in 2022, Hopfer was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Second Team after finishing with 14 points thanks to five goals and four assists. In 2021, Hopfer found the back of the net 11 times and also distributed six assists in finishing with 28 points to earn a spot on the All-Atlantic 10 First Team.

- Duquesne returns home to Rooney Field to continue its non-conference slate after taking on the Musketeers Sunday, welcoming Niagara to the Bluff Thursday, Sept. 5, for a 7:00 p.m. match.

Scouting the Musketeers – Member of the Big East Conference … Located in Cincinnati, Ohio … Xavier is off to a 2-0-1 start to its 2024 season after a 2-0 home win over No. 2 Marshall, August 29, at Corcoran Field … Xavier got a goal from Dylan Kropp in the first half against the Thundering Herd and added another at 48:38 from Matthew Senanon, who owns two goals on three shots this season … The Musketeers opened their 2024 campaign with a 0-0 draw against Northern Kentucky (8/22) before a 4-1 win over Cal State Fullerton (8/25) … A former member of the Atlantic 10, Sunday's meeting is the 16th in the all-time series, with 14 of the previous 15 matches coming between 1995 and 2012 … The Dukes lead the all-time series, 9-4-2 (.667) … The last meeting between the two programs resulted in a 2-0 win for Xavier at Rooney Field last season.

Depth Charge – Duquesne has received a balanced attack on the scoresheet through its first two games of the 2024 season, as six different Dukes have scored a goal while eight different players have registered a point. In each of the first two matches, a student-athlete has come off the bench and scored a goal, each by rookies. Freshman
Marko Rasmussen scored the first goal of the 2024 season for Duquesne in the first half of a 3-1 win over Seton Hill, while freshman
Roni Badler recorded the game-winning goal as the Dukes also posted a 3-1 triumph over Canisius.

Welcome Back – Senior forward
Maxi Hopfer battled injuries during the 2023 campaign and appeared in just six games, including two starts, but he made his presence felt in the 2024 season opener. He scored at 76:49 to give Duquesne a 3-1 advantage, registering his 19th career goal on the Bluff. The next time Hopfer finds the back of the net will help the Styria, Austria, native become the eighth different student-athlete to register 20 career goals on the Bluff as well as the second in as many years.

Set It Off – Duquesne has had no problem getting into its offensive sets early in the 2024 season, as through two games the Dukes own a 35-14 advantage over their opponents in shots, including a 17-8 edge in shots on goal. Six different players own at least four shots, including a team-high five from freshman
Roni Badler. Each of the four shots from senior
Maxi Hopfer, meanwhile, have been on goal.
