Pittsburgh, Pa. – A pair of student-athletes from the Duquesne University women's soccer team were honored with Team of the Week accolades by Top Drawer Soccer, as juniors
Margey Brown and
Mackenzie Muir each
were bestowed honorable mention plaudits.
Brown, a native of Medina, Ohio, and the first
Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week for the 2024 season, finished with nine points on nine shots in a pair of games last week as the Dukes split their first two games of the campaign.
In tying a Duquesne single-game program standard for points (7), Brown registered three goals and an assist in a season-opening win over Mercyhurst, 6-2, at Rooney Field. She is the third player in program history to tally seven points in a game as well as the 11th to record a hat trick. Brown also scored the lone goal for Duquesne late in an eventual 2-1 setback to No. 7 Pitt at Highmark Stadium in Station Square.
Muir, a native of Avon, Ohio, played a key role in Duquesne's win over the Lakers in the 2024 season opener, registering a single-game record four assists. She posted assists on each of the three goals for Brown during the win and also picked up a helper on the second goal of the contest for redshirt freshman forward
Hailey Longwell, which gave the Dukes a 5-1 advantage at 52:11.
Duquesne returns home to Rooney Field for its next two games. The Dukes will host Bowling Green Sunday, August 25, at 3:00 p.m. before welcoming Kent State Sunday, Sept. 8. The contest against the Golden Flashes will serve as Senior Day for the Dukes.
