Pittsburgh, Pa. – Former guard
Jimmy Clark III of the Duquesne University men's basketball team has signed a professional contract with Bnei Herzliya Basket of the Israeli Premier League.
Clark III is the third member of the Dukes to ink a professional contact overseas this summer, joining former forward
Tre Williams (
QSTA United) and
Tevin Brewer (
Kipinä Äänekoski). Originally founded in 1985 as Hapoel Herzliya, Bnei Herzliya Basket has won the Israeli State Cup twice, including 1994-95 and 2021-22.
In two seasons on the Bluff, Clark III helped guide the Dukes to an overall record of 45-25 (.643), including a mark of 20-16 (.555) in the Atlantic 10. Duquesne appeared in the postseason each year, taking part in the 2023 College Basketball Invitational (CBI) as well as earning an automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Championship after winning four games in five days in Brooklyn, N.Y., at the Barclays Center to claim its first Atlantic 10 Championship since 1977.
During the 2023-24 campaign, Clark III was the only player for Duquesne to start all 37 games, a program record, and he concluded his career as the program's active leader for consecutive games played (70) and starts (55). Clark III averaged 15.0 points and 3.8 assists per contest en route to be naming named to the 2024 All-Atlantic 10 Second Team and is also a two-time All-Atlantic 10 Defensive Team (2023, 2024) honoree.
In each of his two years at Duquesne, Clark III led the Atlantic 10 in steals, averaging 2.35 per game during the 2023-24 campaign, a mark that tied for ninth individually in NCAA Division I, after averaging 2.30 per contest a year prior. He compiled 163 steals in two seasons on the Bluff, which ranks ninth in the program career record book.
Overall in two seasons with the Dukes, Clark III earned 69 starting assignments and provided averages of 13.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.3 steals per game while shooting 42.4 percent (345-for-813) from the field. Clark III spent two seasons at VCU prior to joining the Dukes and during his NCAA career played in 103 career games, tallying career totals of 1,089 points, 290 rebounds, 268 assists and 198 steals.
Clark III eclipsed 1,000 career points in his final home game at Duquesne, a 67-65 win over George Washington at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse, for Senior Day. His free throw with 2.1 seconds remaining against the Revolutionaries helped him reach the mark and also helped propel the Dukes to victory. Clark III is the 15th student-athlete for the Dukes to sign a pro contract who played for former head coach
Keith Dambrot at Duquesne.
The Dukes are led by head coach
Dru Joyce III, who enters his first year leading the program in 2024-25. Duquense returns a pair of starters and nine letterwinners from a 2023-24 squad that finished with an overall record of 25-12 (.676) and earned its first win in the NCAA Tournament since 1969, a 71-67 triumph over No. 6 seed BYU in Omaha, Neb., at the CHI Health Center.
