Five Dukes Named to NABC Honors Court

Pittsburgh, Pa. – A total of five student-athletes from the Duquesne University men's basketball program were named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) 2023-24 Honors Court Monday. The NABC Honors Court includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2023-24 year with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher. Over 2,100 student-athletes were bestowed NABC Honors Court plaudits.

Earning the honor for the Dukes are junior Andy Barba and graduate students Fousseyni Drame, Hassan Drame, Dusan Mahorcic and Andrei Savrasov.

Barba, a general business major, posted a 3.29 cumulative GPA at Duquesne. Twins Fousseyni and Hassan Drame, both pursuing a Master of Science degree in supply chain management, own GPA's of 3.60 and 3.50, respectively. Mahorcic is studying for a Master of Arts in communication and has recorded a GPA of 3.57, while Savrasov owns a 3.58 GPA while also pursuing a Master of Science in supply chain management.

Fousseyni Drame appeared in all 37 games for the Dukes in 2023-24, averaging 6.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per contest while shooting 48.3 percent (87-for-180) from the field, including 45.6 percent (26-for-57) from beyond the arc. He led Duquesne with three double-doubles and finished third for the squad in blocks with 15. His twin brother, Hassan, played in 13 games before suffering a season-ending injury, providing averages of 3.4 points and 3.2 rebounds per contest.

Mahorcic appeared in 26 games during the 2023-24 season, including 15 starts, and converted 52.8 percent (47-of-89) of his shots from the floor in averaging 4.5 points per contest, while Savrasov saw action in 20 games, including 12 starts, and averaged 5.9 points and 3.5 boards. Barba played in five games, finished with six points thanks to a 2-for-5 performance from beyond the arc.

Led by Dru Joyce III, who enters his first season as head coach in 2024-25, Duquesne returns a pair of starters from a 2023-24 squad that posted an overall record of 25-12 (.676), including a mark of 10-8 (.556) in the Atlantic 10. The Dukes claimed the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championship and first automatic bid to the NCAA Championship since 1977, where they claimed their first win in the NCAA Tournament since 1969 thanks to a 71-67 win over No. 6 seed BYU.
