Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University women's tennis team wrapped up its home portion of its schedule on Sunday afternoon, capturing a 5-2 victory over Saint Francis while celebrating Senior Day at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness of Pittsburgh. With the victory, the Dukes jump to 6-10 this spring.

During doubles competition, Duquesne captured a pair of victories to take the point. Graduate student Daniela Latoni and junior Kaya Rand secured a 6-4 victory over Diana Zuba and Marie Discini in the first position. Sophomore Jasa Roka and freshman Mila Badics captured a 6-0 sweep over Reagen Mangan and Sara Jankovic in the second slot before seniors Ana Utrilla Benito and Ellen Shanahan fell by a 6-3 count to Kelly Dowuona and Kally Kadzinski.

In singles competition, the Dukes would take four of the six matches to capture the Senior Day win. Latoni recorded a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory over Zuba in the first slot as Badics dropped a 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 match to Mangan. At third singles, Roka registered a win over Dowuona, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 before Rand downed Sara Jankovic 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 in the fourth singles. In the final two slots, Shanahan tallied a 7-5, 6-1 win victory over Kadzinski before freshman Sofia Serrano fell by a 6-4, 2-6, 0-6 count to Valeria Vinces.

SENIOR CELEBRATION
The Dukes honored three seniors prior to today's match while thanking them for their contributions to the program. Daniela Latoni, Ana Utrilla Benito, and Ellen Shanahan were all celebrated this evening.

UP NEXT
Duquesne hits the road when it travels to Dayton, Ohio for three matches in three days from Thursday, April 11 through Saturday, April 13. The Dukes will square off against Saint Louis on Thursday before battling host, Dayton on Friday. Duquesne will end the trip by taking on St. Bonaventure on Saturday. All three matches will be played at the South Regency Tennis Center.
