Miamisburg, Ohio – The Dukes opened up a three-match road slate on Thursday morning, dropping a 4-2 decision to Saint Louis in Miamisburg, Ohio at the South Regency Tennis Center. With the loss, the Duquesne University women's tennis team falls to 6-11 overall and 0-3 in conference action. 

In doubles competition, the Billikens secured the point after capturing wins at the first and third doubles positions. Graduate student Daniela Latoni and junior Kaya Rand fell by a 7-6 (7-3) count to Elizabeth Mintusova and Kseniia Aleshina before sophomore Jasa Roka and freshman Mila Badics captured a 7-5 victory over Norhan Hesham and Nicolly Ferreira in the second slot. At the final doubles, senior Ana Utrilla Benito and freshman Sofia Serrano were downed by Emmerson White and Fiorella Duran, 6-1.

Saint Louis would take three of the singles matches to secure the match victory. Latoni lost to Mintusova, 6-1, 6-2 at the first slot before Badics won by retirement over Hesham at singles two. At the third position, Roka fell by a 6-3, 6-3 count to Aleshina while Rand was dropped by Sandra Gines, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5). At the final two slots, senior Ellen Shanahan registered a 6-3, 6-2 win over Ferreira while Yakunina's match was recorded unfinished.

The Dukes are back in action tomorrow, Friday, April 12, when they take on the host Dayton at 1:00 p.m. at the South Regency Tennis Center.
