Miamisburg, Ohio – The Duquesne University men's tennis team continued its three-match road trip, falling at Dayton on Friday afternoon, 7-0 at the South Regency Tennis Center. With the loss, the Dukes fall to 7-10 overall this spring, behind a 1-4 mark in league play.
The Flyers would grab the early point as they secured a pair of wins in doubles competition. At the first slot, Seniors
Kaipo Marshall and
Tamirlan Teberikov fell by a 6-4 count to Connor Bruce and Matt DeMarco before sophomores
Alfrendo Vogelaar and
Keita Duclos secured a 7-5 win over Kyle McNally and Ronit Hiryur at the two spot. At the final doubles match, senior Vance Bode and sophomore
Pierce Manning fell to Nikola Puric and Eric Suk, 7-5.
In singles competition, Dayton took control as it swept all six matches. Marshall fell by a 6-1, 2-6, 7-10 count to Bruce at the fist spot before Teberikov lost 6-3, 6-2 to DeMarco in the second slot. At third singles, Duclos fell to McNally, 6-0, 6-3 before Vogelaar was downed 7-5, 6-1 to Mikkel Zinder. At the final two singles positions, Vance fell to Phillips, 6-2, 6-1 while sophomore
Chris Cianciotti dropped a 6-2, 6-1 match to Luis Saraiva.
