Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University men's tennis team secured its first win of the spring, downing Ashland 6-1 on Saturday evening at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness of Pittsburgh. With the win, the Dukes improve to 1-1 overall this season.
Duquesne captured a pair of doubles victories to take the point. Seniors
Tamirlan Teberikov and
Bode Vance captured a 6-1 win over Fabian Bussard and Rodrigo Ludgero in the first slot. Sophomores
Keita Duclos and
Alfrendo Vogelaar secure a 6-0 victory over Kaj Salzano and Omar Prince at third singles while graduate student
Jin Dassanayake and sophomore
Chris Cianciotti fell by a 6-4 count to Batsomi Marobela and Tomas Paskauskas at the second position.
The Dukes would secure the match by winning five singles matches on Saturday. Teberikov delt Ludgero a 6-4, 6-1 loss at the first singles while Duclos captured a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Marobela in the second slot. At third singles, Vogelaar downed Paskauskas 6-2, 6-2 before Dassanayake secured a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the fourth position over Bussard. Vance would close out the singles wins for Duquesne by downing Salzano 6-3, 6-0 at the fifth singles.

Duquesne returns to action when it hosts Edinboro on Friday, Feb. 9, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness of Pittsburgh.
