Columbus, Ohio – A trio of Dukes from the Duquesne University swimming and diving team traveled to Columbus, Ohio to take part in the Ohio State Winter Invitational inside McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion, while posting seven personal best times.
Each day consisted of a prelims and finals session with the prelims beginning at 11:00 a.m. each day. Finals started at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
On Friday, seniors
Alyssa Schonbachler, and
Regan Holstein and freshman
Abby Philipsen, all posted personal bests in the 50-yard freestyle. Competing in the B-Final, Schnobachler registered a best time of 25.23 while Philipsen followed behind her and touched the wall at 25.30. Holstein was the final Duke to post a personal best of 26.52 in the event.
The trio of Dukes would continue to register personal bests on Saturday as they competed in the 100-yard backstroke. After posting a prelim time of 58.10 in the morning, Holstein would touch the wall at 57.45 in finals to secure a third-place finish. Philipsen registered a prelim time of 58.37 before following it up with a time of 57.45 in the finals to finish fourth. Schonbachler would round out the trio, recording a time of 58.21 in the morning session before clocking in a time of 58.15 in the finals to be tabbed sixth.
On the final day, the Dukes would capture a pair of spots on the podium in the 200-yard backstroke. Holstein would touch the wall at 2:03.91 in the prelims before adding a silver medal to her resume by recording a time of 2:02.37. Her finals time was also a personal best. Schonbachler would end her day with a third-place finish, tallying a time of 2:09.82 in the morning session before ending the weekend with a time of 2:07.45.

David Sheets said. "Eddie did a fantastic job of preparing them to swim fast. This was a great way for Regan to end her career."
