Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University men's tennis team opened a two-game homestand, falling to UIC on Saturday evening at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness of Pittsburgh. With the slip, the Dukes fall to 4-2 overall this spring.
In doubles competition, UIC swept all three matches to secure the point. Seniors
Tamirlan Teberikov and
Bode Vance dropped a 4-5 count to Randy Wilson and Mihailo Savic at the first slot. At the second position,
Kaipo Marshall and graduate student
Jin Dassanayake fell by a 6-3 count to Gustavo Schwebel and Edoardo Bottino before sophomores
Keita Duclos and
Alfrendo Vogelaar were downed by Robinson LeMeur and Aleksa Bucan, 6-3 at third doubles.
The Flames would capture the match after they won four of the six singles on Saturday. Kaipo would defeat Wilson, 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 in the first position before Teberikov fell by a 1-6, 1-6 count to Bucan in the second slot. At third singles, Duclos dropped a 3-6, 4-6 match to LeMeur before Vogelaar was downed by Bottino 6-2, 7-6 (5-0), 4-6 in the fourth slot. Dassanayake would win 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 over Savic at fifth singles before Vance was dropped by Schwebel in final position.

Duquesne returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 24, when it hosts Carnegie Mellon at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness of Pittsburgh.
