Olean, N.Y. – The Duquesne University men's tennis team extended its winning streak to four straight, capturing a 7-0 victory over Fordham on Sunday afternoon, at St. Bonaventure University. With the win, the Dukes improve to 4-1 this season.
In doubles competition, Duquesne secured the point, taking a pair of matches Seniors
Tamirlan Teberikov and
Bode Vance fell by a 4-6 score to Nick Mueller and Giorgio Soemarno at the first position. Senior
Kaipo Marshall and graduate student
Jin Dassanayake captured a 6-4 win over Nicholas Kanazirev and Dhillon Virdee-Oakley at the second doubles while sophomores
Keita Duclos and
Alfrendo Vogelaar capped the doubles competition by downing Bingru Chen and John Mascone, 6-4.
The Dukes secured its fourth straight win after sweeping all six singles matches. Marshall registered a 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 win over Mueller at the first spot before Teberikov tallied a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory over Kanazirev in slot two. At third singles, Duclos downed Virdee-Oakley, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 while Vogelaar captured a win over Mascone, 6-3, 6-0. In the final two singles spots, Dassanayake secured a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Chen before Vance ended singles competition with an 8-4 victory over Stefan Stojanovic.
UP NEXT
Duquesne returns back to Pittsburgh when it hosts UIC on Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness of Pittsburgh, with the opening serve scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
