Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University women's tennis team concluded its two-match homestand, securing a 6-1 victory over Colgate on Saturday, inside the Alpha Tennis and Fitness of Pittsburgh. With the win, the Dukes improve to 2-3 overall this season.

Duquesne captured the doubles point by sweeping all three matches in doubles competition. Graduate student Daniela Latoni and junior Kaya Rand secured a 6-3 win over Ameila Galin and Carina Cristobal in the first slot. At second doubles, sophomore Jasa Roka and freshman Mila Badics downed Sophia Montero and Gigi Bohan, 6-4 before sophomore Taisia Yakunina and senior Ellen Shanahan registered a 6-2 win to conclude doubles play.

The Dukes would take five of the six singles matches to capture the victory. Latoni fell by a 6-7 (0-1), 6-3, 3-6 count to Montero as Rand secured a 7-5, 6-1 win over Galin in the second slot. At third singles, Roka recorded a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Cristobal before Badics netted a 6-1, 6-1 win over Addie Eklund in the fourth position. Yakunina registered a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Eliza Podlas as Shanahan downed Bohan 8-6 at the fifth and sixth singles.

Duquesne returns to action, on Sunday, Feb. 11, when it takes on Fordham. The match will be played at St. Bonaventure.
