Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University men's tennis team completed its three-match homestand by blanking Colgate, 7-0 on Saturday at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness of Pittsburgh. With the win, the Dukes improve its streak to three straight while holding a 3-1 overall record.
Duquesne captured a pair of doubles matches to secure the point. Seniors
Tamirlan Teberikov and
Bode Vance dropped a 6-4 decision to Benito Vlassis and Josh Israel at the first doubles before senior
Kaipo Marshall and graduate student
Jin Dassanayake captured a 6-1 win over Ben Graham and Aidan Lee in the second slot. Sophomores
Keita Duclos and
Alfrendo Vogelaar capped the doubles competition by downing John Fazil and Aidan Chung, 6-4.
The Dukes kept up the momentum during singles play, sweeping all six to secure the match. Marshall won by opponent retirement at first singles before Teberikov tallied a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 victory over Israel in the second slot. At third singles, Vogelaar registered a 7-6, 6-2 (4-0) win over Lee before Duclos recorded a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Graham in the fourth slot. Dassanayake would take down Jerome Falcon, 4-6, 7-6 (5-0), 13-11 in the fifth position and Vance ended the singles play by downing Mikey Weitz, 8-2.
UP NEXT
Duquesne hits the road when it takes on Fordham on Sunday, Feb. 11. The match will be played at St. Bonaventure.
