- The Duquesne University men's basketball team continues a three-game homestand at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse Friday with a 6:00 p.m. tip against Delaware.

- The Dukes, who have lost five games by seven points or less, including three by five points or less, opened their homestand with a
62-59 setback to Saint Peter's (Dec. 3) to begin the month of December. Tied, 47-47, with 8:12 remaining, the Peacocks used an 8-1 run to open up a 55-48 lead and never relinquished the advantage again.

Jahsean Corbett scored a game-high 15 points for Duquesne on 5-of-12 shooting from the field, including 2-for-3 from beyond the arc, while going 3-for-4 at the free-throw line. He also added six rebounds, three assists and a steal.

Chabi Barre established a career high in scoring for the second consecutive game, contributing 13 points while also leading the Dukes with eight rebounds. In his four games since returning from injury that forced him to miss the first four games of the 2024-25 season, Barre is averaging 8.3 points and 7.0 rebounds and has converted 63.6 percent (14-for-22) of his shots from the floor.

- The 2024-25 season marks the 109th year of Duquesne basketball. The Dukes started play in 1913-14 (DU did not field a team in 1944-45-46 due to World War II). Duquesne, which has posted back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since 1971 & 1972, is looking to record three consecutive 20-win campaigns for the first time since finishing with four straight 20-win seasons from 1952 to 1955. The Dukes are also 13 wins shy of 1,500 as an NCAA program.

Jahsean Corbett, who owns career totals of 1,372 points and 761 rebounds. Corbett amassed totals of 1,303 points and 725 rebounds in three seasons at Chicago State prior to transferring to Duquesne.

Maximus Edwards, who enters Friday's game with 783 career points. Named the 2023 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, Edwards scored 722 in two seasons at George Washington before transferring to Duquesne.

- Duquesne concludes its three-game homestand Wednesday, Dec. 11, with a 7:00 p.m. tip against Maine at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse after hosting the Blue Hens. The Dukes will follow by traveling to Akron, Ohio, for their final game of the regular season at a neutral site Saturday, Dec. 14, with a 6:00 p.m. tip against Towson at Lebron James Arena at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School.Â

At The Helm – Dru Joyce III was named the 18th head coach in the 109-year history of Duquesne basketball March 28, 2024. Joyce III, a native of Akron, Ohio, spent two seasons as associate head coach for the Dukes under Keith Dambrot from 2022 to 2024, helping guide Duquesne to an overall record of 45-25 (.643), including a 20-16 (.556) mark in the Atlantic 10, during that span. The Dukes made an appearance in the 2023 College Basketball Invitational (CBI) before earning the automatic bid for the A-10 in the 2024 NCAA Championship by winning four games in five days en route to the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championship crown in Brooklyn, N.Y., at the Barclays Center. Duquesne, as a No. 11 seed, made its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 1977 and earned its first victory in the championship since 1969 thanks to a 71-67 win over No. 6 seed BYU in Omaha, Neb., at CHI Health Center Arena.Â

In the first meeting between the two programs, the Blue Hens earned an 86-81 victory over the Dukes as part of the Binghamton Hoop Fest in Bingamton, N.Y., Nov. 20, 1999 ... Les Guépards – Duquesne has received a boost in its frontcourt with the return of junior forward
Chabi Barre, who missed the first four games of the year due to injury. Barre was a presence in the paint over the course of three games at the Cayman Islands Classic, averaging 6.7 points and 6.7 rebounds in the tournament while also knocking down 64.3 percent (9-of-14) of his attempts from the floor. In a
67-54 win over Old Dominion (Nov. 26), Barre registered his first NCAA Division I double-figure scoring effort with 10 points while also grabbing seven rebounds. He followed that performance by contributing a career-high 13 points and eight rebounds against Saint Peter's as the Dukes opened a three-game homestand at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse. In his first four games of the season, Barre also set a new personal standard in
rebounds with 11 against Hampton (Nov. 25) while also matching a career high with four blocks against the Pirates. Through his first four games of the year, Barre owns 28 rebounds, 16 of which have come on the offensive glass.

Pendulum – The up-and-down nature of college basketball has never been more apparent this season than with Duquesne. Working five new players into the rotation and the Dukes looking to find their groove, the first eight games of the 2024-25 season has featured an amazing 32 ties (4.0 per game) and 50 lead changes (6.3 per contest). In just the last four games alone, contests between Duquesne and its opponent have featured 26 ties and 34 lead changes, including a season-high nine ties against South Dakota State (Nov. 24) and 12 lead changes vs. Hampton (Nov. 25).

Defense Wins Championships – The Dukes have seemingly rounded into form defensively, as over the last four games opponents are averaging 62.8 points per contest. The four foes have combined to convert just 37.9 percent (85-for-224) of its shots from the field, including a 25-for-79 (31.6%) performance from beyond the arc. Duquesne has won 29 consecutive games dating back to the 2018-19 campaign when holding opponents to under 60 points thanks to a 67-54 win over Old Dominion to close out the 2024 Cayman Islands Classic. Included in that stretch is a perfect 17-0 mark in three years
Dru Joyce III has been a member of the coaching staff on the Bluff, including two years as associate head coach from 2022 to 2024.

Matúš Hronský and
Chabi Barre in a 67-54 win over Old Dominion that closed out play in the Cayman Islands Classic, a total of eight different Dukes have scored in double figures in the first eight games of the 2024-25 season. Duquesne has received 20 double-figure scoring efforts so far this season, including four each from guards

FLA – Speaking of forward
Jahsean Corbett, the transfer from Chicago State paced the Dukes in the opener of a three-game homestand at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse against Saint Peter's (Dec. 3) with 15 points. Corbett, a native of Orlando, Fla., shot 5-for-12 from the field against the Peacocks in becoming the sixth different student-athlete for Duquesne in eight games this season to lead the team in scoring. Corbett is also proving to be an adept distributor early in the 2024-25 campaign, as he ranks third for the Dukes in assists with 13, an average of 1.6 per contest.
