George Town, Grand Cayman – Noah Farrakhan's jumper with 44 seconds remaining pushed Hampton on top for good as the Pirates closed the game on a 10-2 run to earn a 64-59 win over the Duquesne University men's basketball team Monday as part of the Cayman Islands Classic at John Gray Gymnasium. The Dukes dipped to 0-6 overall during the 2024-25 season.

Tre Dinkins III stemmed the tide for the Dukes with a turnaround jumper with 3:46 left to push the advantage for Duquesne to 57-54, but Johnson came through again for the Pirates, burying a three-pointer to tie the game and ignite the final rally for Hampton (3-4). Farrakhan led all scorers in the game with 24 points on 9-of-18 shooting, including 2-for-5 from beyond the arc and a 4-for-5 performance at the free-throw line, and also added five rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.

A day after competing in a game that featured nine ties and 10 lead changes, Monday's tilt against Hampton witnessed seven ties and 12 lead swaps. Neither team led by more than six until Duquesne used a 7-0 spurt to grab its biggest lead, 55-47. Junior
Chabi Barre provided a dunk off a turnover to open the run, which also featured a driving layup from sophomore forward
Jakub Necas and the three-pointer from DiMichele, who led the Dukes with 13 points off the bench. In just over 29 minutes, DiMichele shot 4-for-9 from the floor, including 1-for-2 from deep, and finished 4-for-5 at the free-throw line while also notching three assists and a steal. DiMichele has scored in double figures in four consecutive games for Duquesne.

Barre, who made his 2024-25 season debut Sunday against South Dakota State, provided a spark off the bench for the Dukes against the Pirates. He matched career highs in both points (8) and blocks (4) while setting a new personal best in rebounds with 11, six of which were of the offensive variety. He also provided a pair of thunderous dunks. Barre also scored eight points in the 2024 Atlantic 10 opener at Massachusetts (1/3/24) and also rejected four shots in a 77-58 triumph over Rider (11/17/23) at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.
