PITTSBURGH - Head coach
Corinne Desrosiers has announced the hiring of Abigail Lagos as an assistant coach on the Duquesne lacrosse staff.
"We are delighted to welcome Abigail to the Dukes coaching staff! During the search she stood out immediately to me with her diverse experience and background as a player," said Coach Desrosiers. "From winning a National Championship in Division IIÂ and receiving National Attacker of the Year honors, to joining Syracuse and garnering some midfield minutes there prior to her injury, which would unfortunately sideline her but provide her with a unique opportunity to work in the back offices with their coaching staff a a player-coach, helping with film, situational play and scouting in a year that would take them to the semifinals. She's also a fellow New Englander, so now I have someone who can rep the Boston sports teams with!"
Lagos arrives on the Bluff after a highly successful playing career at the University of Indianapolis and student-coaching stint at Syracuse. After suffering an injury at Syracuse, Lagos gained valuable experience working on a coaching staff, who helped lead the Orange to a national semifinal appearance.
"I could not be more excited for this opportunity. I'm looking forward to bringing my experiences and knowledge of lacrosse to Duquesne and help grow the program even more. Thank you to coach
Corinne Desrosiers and the athletic department for entrusting me with this position. I can't wait to get started."
During her playing career, Lagos was a part of the 2022 NCAA Division II national championship winning squad and earned a spot on the all-tournament team. She won IWLCA National Player of the Year in 2022 and was a back-to-back selection for IWLCA National Attacker of the Year, All-America first team, All-Midwest first team, GLVC Attacker of the Year, and All-GLVC first team in 2021 and 2022. From 2018-22, Lagos served as Indianapolis' team captain and she was a member of the National Leadership Society at UIndy from 2017-22.

The past two summers, Lagos has coached at Major Force Lacrosse with high-school age teams and has also guided them through the NCAA recruiting process. Lagos gained more valuable experience within the sector assisting at the NCAA Eligibility Center, with a primary focus on Division I and II student-athletes, in 2021 and 22.
